Pick your own designer look at Aliento.
You can model your kitchen and primary bathroom off of HGTV’s hit show “Rock The Block” when you purchase a new home at any of the four neighborhoods at Aliento. This master-planned community brings you fabulous looks influenced by the rooms that the professional designers created on “Rock The Block.” There are four different kitchen designs and four different primary bathroom designs. You can mix and match the options to create your own celebrity-designer-inspired home.

Take a page from the pros’ design book.
Professional interior designers Jasmine Roth and Mina Starsiak Hawk from HGTV’s “Rock The Block” shared some of their tips and tricks for designing homes in a recent NewHomeSource article and they’ve inspired us. Read on to find out how you can try their ideas in your home.

Make it look custom with paint.

“Roth suggests that buyers focus on interior and exterior paint upgrades, which can make a big difference in the look of a new home without costing too much.”

Whether you’re looking to redecorate or start fresh in a new home, painting is one of the easiest things you can do. Painting an outdated bathroom makes a big impact without breaking the bank. And if you’re moving to a new home, pick your colors and paint the rooms first. Then you’ll have a palette on which to build the rest of your décor. It’s always easier to change out a piece of furniture or a pillow than it is to repaint an entire room, so go with something that you know will work for you now and in the future. A neutral like linen or greige will always stand the test of time.

Focus on what you love.

“‘You need to figure out one or two things you love, the things that will be the big draw in your house and then keep everything else simple,’ [Hawk] says.”

When you’re choosing where to spend and where to splurge, think about what you love. If you’ve been dreaming of a white marble countertop or a herringbone wood floor, go with it and let the rest of the room develop around it. If it’s a luxe material like the marble, consider using it as an accent only on the kitchen island. Or instead of wood floors, try more durable vinyl floors that look like hardwood and lay them in your favorite pattern.

Pick classic over trendy.

“Hawk also recommends avoiding trendy items unless they’re easily replaceable things such as cabinet hardware or peel-and-stick wallpaper.”

Some colors and products aren’t here to stay, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have rooms that work for years. Concentrate on your bigger ticket items and choose classic lines and colors that you know won’t go out of style. For example, a white tiled bathroom will always be in vogue, no matter the year.
