Cooking up a family recipe. Gingerbread houses. Perhaps even catching up on your Netflix queue – ‘tis the season to be jolly, after all. If you’re looking to create more great memories around the holidays, check out these winter entertainment options in the Santa Clarita area and close to Aliento’s gated enclave.

Ice Station Valencia
Brush up or try out figure skating at the Ice Station’s public rink. For experienced skaters, you can even join and race others in the Santa Clarita Speed Skating Club. They also offer freestyle, private lessons and group classes through Coach Erika Shorr’s Coffee Club.

Wakefield Winter Wonderland
After the 1994 Northridge earthquake, this small neighborhood came together to rebuild and spread cheer by taking their holiday decorations to the next level. Since then, many folks have made it a tradition to tour the Wakefield Winter Wonderland. Opening season starts at Wakefield Court in Santa Clarita on December 1 and visitors are encouraged to bring unwrapped toy donations.

Holiday Hoedown
Get your kiddos ready to share their wishes with ol’ St. Nick. Along with Santa Claus, Gilchrist Farm will host caroling wagon rides, a holiday bazaar and a petting zoo. Santa will arrive by wagon in the Holiday Horse and Rider Parade which begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 8. Don’t miss out! The Holiday Hoedown is for one weekend only, December 8-9.

Hart Holiday Boutique
Shop for the perfect present at William S. Hart Hall on Saturday and Sunday, December 8-9. Unique gift items for sale will include handmade crafts, gift baskets, jewelry and fashion accessories.

Old Town Newhall
Old Town’s Main Street gets festive with holiday lights and decorations to enjoy as you shop. Thursday evenings also include free live entertainment. The Light Up Main Street event starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 17.

Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center

Mount Pinos
Take a day off with the family to go play in the snow at Mount Pinos. Enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding and sledding in this small, resort town. Mount Pinos is also a popular spot for astronomers. In the evening, gaze into the clear night skies there and you’ll see why!
